This web page was produced as an assignment for Genetics 677, an undergraduate course at UW-Madison.
After searching a number of literature databases, including PubMed and Web of Science (Web of Knowledge), along with software used to predict 3-dimensional (3-d) protein structure, I was unable to find a predicted 3-d protein structure for myocilin. This may be due to the fact that the Olfactomedin domain of myocilin, which accounts for just over 43% of the protein, is not well characterized in myocilin or any of the other proteins in which it exists. However, I was able to find an article by Susan D. Orwig and Raquel L. Lieberman which reveals some of the biophysical properties of the Olfactomedin domain in myocilin.
