This web page was produced as an assignment for Genetics 677, an undergraduate course at UW-Madison.

    After searching a number of literature databases, including PubMed and Web of Science (Web of Knowledge), along with software used to predict 3-dimensional (3-d) protein structure, I was unable to find a predicted 3-d protein structure for myocilin. This may be due to the fact that the Olfactomedin domain of myocilin, which accounts for just over 43% of the protein, is not well characterized in myocilin or any of the other proteins in which it exists.  However, I was able to find an article by Susan D. Orwig and Raquel L. Lieberman which reveals some of the biophysical properties of the Olfactomedin domain in myocilin.  Notice, this characterization is extremely novel as this paper was only recently published (January 2011).  A citation for this article is listed below.  Click HERE to read the full article.
