MYOC protein phylogeny

Above is a phylogenetics tree from Phylogeny.fr showing the relatedness of the myocilin protein in the chicken (Gallus gallus), mouse (Mus musculus), chimp (Pan troglodytes), humans (Homo sapiens), and zebra fish (Danio rerio).  Unsurprisingly, human myocilin is most closely related to its homologue in the chimp followed by that of the mouse.

To the right is a phylogenetic tree of myocilin protein using GeneBee and its MUSCLE 3.6 algorithm.
Analysis: While both ClustalW and MUSCLE 3.6 gave relatively similar results on the phylogenetic relatedness of myocilin proteins, it was interesting to notice in the MUSCLE 3.6 phylogenetic tree that Canis lupis familiaris was not included in the tree even though the same data (same eight protein homologues) were entered into each database.  Possibly, MUSCLE did not think there was enough sequnce similarity to include it in the tree.  Notably, Pan troglodytes were most closely related to Homo sapiens in all three of the phylogenetic trees listed.
